Work-

• hilarious moment at work that demonstrated the level of intellect i deal with on a daily basis

Temps week

Work- Sick of constantly trying to validate my role and work at the kinder. Trying to fight to have two days of paid pd a year. We as assistants are asking for SO much!

Home- Getting close to our trip away. We all seem to finally be recovering from the lurgy just in time. Wemb just needs some shorts and we are all set. I submitted my first assignment last week, EARLY. I hope I did ok but really I just hope I pass!! Our family schedules are now adjusting again to fit in Princess’ new job!

Wych’s week

Work- I’ve almost completely cut out caffeine (again) and with my new “it’s not me so I don’t need to accept responsibility for it” attitude at work has definitely reduced my stress levels but I went into the cafe around the corner today & asked for a decaf long black and the barista Pete just looked at me and said “you’re making me sad”

My boss & the CEO were having a meeting in the cafe while I was there so I made sure I sat a reasonable distance from them & ate my lunch & read. The CEO eventually left & my boss paid for extra coffees & chatted to Pete & Patty, the next thing Pete says “so, are you going to talk to (ME) before you leave?” I look up & my boss is coming over so I put my tablet to sleep & he asks “what are you reading?” I said “tech news feeds – this is the only time I get to read in peace” he then left. After he’d gone Pete looks at me & says “so did he catch you reading comics or did my distraction work?”

Home- Enjoyed my time off last week. Went & saw Iron Man 3 with S and 2 other people in the entire cinema. Celebrated my mum & dad’s 70th on the weekend with teppanyaki for our extended family it was nice to see some of my relatives who I haven’t seen for a long time.

Crazy Train:

Temp: Crazy Train are rocking through Heart of Fear, we are now 4/6 and working on Amber Shaper Unsok. I don’t think it will be too much longer before we move on to Terrace of Endless Springs.

Wemb: happy we decided to ignore outside pressure and work through methodically. it has allowed us to change roles and also see all the content

Other Raids:

Temp: I sadly did not get to raid with Ironman this week, but they did very well anyway. They are now 3/4 into the Terrace.

We started a new alt raid group on Sunday night (au time). Its a bit casual and relaxed, we raid for a couple of hours and we just threw together the group on the night. It was really good fun.

Wych: Alt raiding with the Sunday night team was nice on my hunter (if only to big dog it for a bit) but I think I’ll level my S-Priest up to join that group. That and I’m sure the thing I need is another farm to keep up with

Wemb:yeah, i feel like the shammy boat has sailed for me- maybe i need to try elemental?

Lfr’ing:

Temp: We managed to finally get into LFR 8 and we have actually done it twice now. I think I am learning how the first boss and the black fog works – but I have not managed to live through it yet >< We also got to do LFR 9 and we got through the first two bosses without wiping then lost half the raid and could not get a group to finish.

Heroics:

Pants On Head Guild.

Temp: We have had a few people return to the game and guild in the last week. Welcome back. The leader of Remedials had a birthday this week, Happy Birthday Toli.

Mains.

Temp: Enjoying raiding on the shaman, but not as much as I loved the mage. But I do love where we are at and I am enjoying our raiding and LFR’ing to get valor capped each week.

Alts.

Temp: Enjoying raiding on the priest as something different with a whole range of different spells. Loved spending some time on my mage this week and realised how much I miss her. Hoping to spend some more time on her this week. I have also spent some time on my rogue doing some skinning and leatherworking. Initially it was just to learn the new pvp patterns, but I am really enjoying running around on her killing tigers and turtles.

Work- Hasn’t been the best run at work this year, I’ve got the next few days off so I’m turning off my phone & not checking my email for about the 1st time in 3 years just to try & get some clarity. Here’s a tip: IF you want to really make people worry – clean your office, throw all the crap you haven’t looked at for more than 3 months out, clean your white board or pin board. Strip it right down to the things you need & then make sure those things are CLEAN. Don’t explain it, dont make a big deal out of it, just do it & then get back to work. People totally freak out.

Home- We just celebrated the lovely Sharon’s B’day which was a really nice weekend together just doing things we all enjoy.

Scenario 1:

Scenario 2:

Before the patch: Character has 102/200 xp, xp bar shows 51% progress to next level.

Crazy Train:

Wemb: there is a great tussle between a few of us dps for bragging rights as wych and Kealar exploit the fact that blizzard seems to have been tamed by the hunters and mattie and I wring blood out of our stones to stay in the running! God help us when wych gets some decent gear!

Wych: I can sum up how I feel about my current raiding: Thankyou Blizz for masses of trash in every pull

Temp: since the last time we recorded, we have finished Mogushan Vaults and are now half way through Heart of Fear.

Other Raids:

Temp:  I have been filling in for Ironman on my priest.  I shift between heals and dps.  I love hanging out with all of those guys.

Lfr’ing:

Wemb- I’m loving big dogging it in the lfr’s. I’m usually top dps and nearly always at least in the top three.

Temp: Wemb and I have been trying to do all of the LFR’s each week, we are still yet to see 8 or 9 So I am looking forward to spending some time in there this weekend /fingers crossed.

Heroics:

Pugs.

Pants On Head Guild.

The guild is going great guns.  We have two successful raid groups (although Ironman are looking for a couple more permanent members).  So if you are in the US time zone and you are looking for a raid group, contact me on twitter or in game …

We are about to start a new raid group that will be starting on Mogushan so if you have a new 90, and would like to raid casually on Sunday nights AU, look out for a post on forums!

Mains.

Wemb: switched my warrior back to fury and have discovered that fury aoe around the ilevel 500 mark craps all over arms. This gear level is about the point that fury becomes the only choice if you want big dps. I was doing good numbers before as arms only because I had a 502 two handed sword drop from the new lfr’s.

Alts.

Temp:  Sadly I have not had as much time as I was enjoying on my priest to get into bg’s … that will have to wait for a bit!  However before the end of my holidays I did manage after about 30 kills to get the item that knocks people off their mounts, so the next time, I am fishing and Showtime the hunter comes to annoy me, it is not going to be as much fun for him when he hovers around trying to annoy me!

Temp:  I have loved earning rep and finishing off my reps to exalted on my farm.  I have now completed all available on my farm on Totemp and have started the process on my priest .. loving it!

Professions.

Wemb: blacksmithing is really paying off for me since the thunderforge opened. The specialist weapons have been updated and we can now make 463 versions of them. Then we can take those weapons and upgrade them to a new 476 improvement after ten days of the new ingot cool downs, then do a further upgrade to a 502 version after another 15 days of ingots. My mistake was to make 2 463 weapons instead of completing one then starting on the other.

Temp: Spending time every day doing cloth, leather, and transmute cooldowns, farms 2 full and 1 4 plot and mining for my transmutes.  Mining is a great way to wait for LFR’s to pop.

I’ve been back in the game since MoP launched and its starting to get a bit stale for me. 3 plate wearing 90′s, a dead guild, and lots of real life commitments (so little to no raiding). So I decided to level my BM hunter. Fully heirloomed, twinked out whenever possible, and things just die a bit too easily. So I decided a challenge was in order. Why not solo some BC dungeons? I flew around and couldn’t find the entrance to Ramps (I can only seem to find it as a corpse…), but came across the swirly entrance for blood furnace. Brilliant! I’ll solo that…. At level 61… Was it fool hardy? sure. Was it a success? Well that depends on the definition. I didn’t make it to the first boss as a 3 pull went wrong when I accidentally shot the frozen pat, but I did learn how to better use CC, kiting, pet tanking and such. And I got half a level of exp for my trouble.

• completed a 2 day Dangerous Goods Transport course

• will now be licenced to carry bulk fuel or chemicals

• Curious rang and begged for his job back not once, twice or thrice, but fource!(sp)

• the last time Lady Boss picked up the phone, shouted “george, no!” and hung it up again!

• spent more time cleaning the inside- armourall, 45 minutes wiping grime off padding in the bunk

• spent 2.5 hours c high pressure hose cleaning the outside. getting there.

What’s with that?

Wemb- this week I have to ask: What’s with pet battles?

On Saturday I thought I’d clear my log of that first pet quest while Temp was studying, next thing I know I’m hooked!

• Minute to learn, lifetime to master

• Being able to find pets to capture

• Then that’s not enough, you want the uncommon or rare versions

• Then you want the right combo- stuns, healing, avoidance

• Then you start switching for strategy not just when one dies

• Then you want to level more than 3 or 4

• Then you want to capture higher level so you don’t have to level them yourself

• Then you want to hunt down rares

I say yes, mock those who pet battle, and yes try it yourself, but make sure your other stuff is done first because its a time machine.

Funny pet story:

Logged in yesterday- pet leash threw out a frog. Standing there looking at it because i had only recently captured it. Some one else logged in on top of it, and for a second I thought to myself “fuck me dead! It’s a magic frog!!”

Crazy Train:

Temp: CT continue to do very well despite hiccoughs with modems taking out a healer and dps in one fell swoop.  This week we will see Tranith take a night off and Wemb step into the tanking role.  We now have Elegon down to 22% and we are clearing 5 waves of balls (almost 6) each time- I don’t think it will be long before we have him and I think the final boss will be easier to master than Elegon.

It was great to flex my newly buff dps muscles, but Elegon is a fight that brought me back to earth very quickly. Not melee friendly. can’t catch Mattie yet, but I’ve given Kealar a nice wake-up call and am keeping him on his toes and I’m seeing a nice three/four way battle going once wych gets some more gear.

Other Raids:

Lfr’ing:

Wemb: done lfr 6 a few times now.

really like the vibe of the new instance; ive always loved the look of the troll stuff.

The last fight is great fun and chaotic, ive seen it done successfully a couple of different ways now.

LFR 6 is really fun but a bit full on.  The last time we went in, we had a very Berat type tank, stand here, wait, move to there and attack xyz.  Despite him being quite bossy, he was effective and his strategies were sound.

Heroics:

Pugs.

Pants On Head Guild.

Temp:  The guild is rocking along with 3 raid groups (although 1 of them would be horrified to hear that we are now calling them that).  We have an AU and a US time based raid group and our remedial raiders which log in as Wemb and I head to bed on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mains.

wemb: did the new lfr last week and got a 502 two hand sword.

• Being one hand dual wield was disappointed at first.

• Checked out noxxic.com to see how viable titans grip 2 hand dual wield was.

• Surprised to see that the site now divides the specs into ilevel groups and that…

• for a low ilevel Arms spec was most viable, so switched to it.

• Immediate jump in dps of 20k dps

• Also ditching 2 low weapons for a high one made my ilevel. Jump too.

Temp: I got a piece out of LFR 6 too, a nice 502 ring.

Alts.

Wemb: my druid Wembli hit 90 last night. Not sure what that means or what i’ll do with him, but huzzah!

Temp: I have no time for alts … other than to farm!

Wemb: looking forward to lightening forge opening with next patch update: ok so its the “next” next patch

PvP.

Wemb: as i was finishing levelling wembli yesterday, i was down the beach end of Dread Wastes where you do that small group of quests that reveal a leviathan, you take a sealion called dog for a walk etc. great zone.

• another 89, a nightelf DK was questing there.

• I get the feel he’s used to being a dk bully.

• he sizes me up at the questgiver, then stuns and attacks me when i’m on my mount, so i had to wait to get into bear form and start working the magic. so i kill him, got a little help from a pally that was nearby.

• not interested in fighting more, i head out to see and do my quests

• he shows up again and i think he’d be stupid to try me, but he does

• i kill him a second time and keep questing

• he comes back and pops army of undead while i’m fighting a couple of mobs.

• i kill the mobs, his army and him.

• he comes back two more times even though in all of this he hasn’t reduced me below 50% health and ive killed him now 5 times.

• i’m back at the questgiver and he shows up again. I switch to bear form and target him. he spits on me. i smile at him and say no, not going to happen. he nods, salutes and goes off to quest.

-Curious: pushed his luck once too often with the wrong owner.

-Irony: his child payment avoidance tactic meant he had no rights or payout.

-Spent two hours cleaning it just to not feel violated to sit in it.

-I have a two day course next week- two working days!

-Cowboy: already gone. After his abduction of a customer, I suggest public transport driver, livestock transporter or hijacker.

We’ve had a very hot summer in Melbourne. Possibly the first in a few years where it’s been hot constantly and I haven’t had an air conditioner in my work vehicle. I’ve officially had enough. Roll on winter.

Work- The big cheese started. I enjoyed being able to just walk out at the end of my shift!

Coinciding with that I started Uni and thought I had a schedule all worked out and then it went haywire but I managed to get all my readings and commenting done! /phew

News & Current Affairs:

Patch 5.2 Gear Guide (from wowhead)

Here’s the highlights of the new gear:

• Bosses drop ilvl 502 gear on LFR difficulty, ilvl 522 gear on Normal difficulty, and ilvl 535 gear on Heroic difficulty.
• To keep farm bosses interesting, Thunderforged items have a low chance to drop that are six item levels higher than regular drops. Thunderforged versions can be found for all items, save for tier pieces, on normal and heroic difficulty.
• You can also get a full set of ilvl 522 gear between Shado-Pan Assault and crafted items.
• Shoulders, waists, necks and boots appear to be trash drops (links to confirming comments). Trash drops can have thunderforged versions, and heroic trash items can be found on the BMAH. Some weapons may also be shared boss drops or via a bonus roll.
• If you’re looking to get ilvl 480 for Tier 15 LFR, here’s what can bolster your ilvl:

• The chance of getting loot from Tier 14 raids has been greatly increased and LFR satchels can include lower ilvl versions of trash epics. You can acquire up to 20 Elder Charm of Good Fortune a week now to use on your Tier 14 bonus rolls–they can easily be looted from Trove of the Thunder King around the Isle of Thunder, and also from killing various new rare spawns and doing dailies.
• Reputation Gear. Costs have been reduced by 25-50%. This can net you some 489 or 496 gear.
  • Shado-Pan, The August Celestials, Golden Lotus, The Klaxxi have had their gear costs reduced by 50%. Items now cost625 – 1125.
  • Operation: Shieldwall and Dominance Offensive have had their gear costs reduced by 25%. Items now cost 937 -1312.
• Shado-Pan Assault sells ilvl 522 necks at Neutral reputation for 1250, so fly on over to Ao Pye and get an upgrade.
• Malevolent PvP gear now costs Honor Points. This can get you some easy ilvl 476 armor and ilvl 470 weapons.
• Oondasta is meant to be a tough world boss, but drops ilvl 522 gear.

If you’re looking to get Valor Points to buy Shado-Pan Assault epics or some of the old discounted pieces, here’s what you can do:

• Run Tier 14 LFRs. There are five sections and each gives 90 the first time you run it.
• Run Heroics. Your first random dungeon of the day is 80 and subsequent ones are 40. In addition, several dungeons in 5.2 award more Valor Points because they take slightly more time/effort to complete:
  • Siege of Niuzao Temple: 5 bonus Valor Points
  • Scholomance: 10 bonus Valor Points
  • Shado-Pan Monastery: 15 bonus Valor Points
• Run Scenarios. Your first random scenario is 40 and subsequent ones are 20. In addition, the following scenarios in 5.2 award 5 more Valor Points because they require more effort: Brewmoon Festival, Greenstone Village, A Little Patience, andTheramore’s Fall
• Run Challenge Modes. While this may seem daunting at first, you can get 60-80 Valor Points for simply completing the daily challenge mode, and then an additional 55-85 Valor Points if you rank at Bronze, Silver, or Gold respectively.

Crazy Train:

Wemb: with wych unable to attend on Thursday, Zooe stepped into the tanking role with Tran on his pally & guildy Viziel joined us on his ele shaman. We had a great night and cleared all the way to elegon whom we have only had a look at once before.

We got Elegon down to 49% on Thursday night – so VERY good progress and looking forward to doing more tomorrow night.

Temp: We spent about 30 minutes yesterday getting Sin and Naxx geared for LFR 1 & 2! It was awesome to take new blood in. I love LFR it is such a nice relaxing way to see raid content – even if there are complete morons to be found there.

Wemb: still loving my fury warrior, though not loving the removal of the Deadly Calm talent in the latest patch. Hitting it was like when you see Coke on special at the supermarket, you load up and enjoy the savings. Now they have changed the glyph for an offensive burst bonus by putting it onto a defensive action. To continue the analogy, they have fixed it so that coke goes on special when you are trying to save money.

Temp: I do love my shaman but I am not great at the elemental spec, I much prefer my healing spec … but I will get better. My gear is slowly being replaced with more dps oriented gear and I think that will make a difference! My main focus is definitely getting this toon valor capped each week.

Alts.

Wemb: got less than half a level on my Druid to go before 90. Been hoping to do some stuff with wych on his hunter to get them up to speed.

Temp: I have had no time to spend on any of my alts. Between work and home – its been a very busy few weeks! Hoping that will settle a little as we get into a better routine! I have spent a little time on my mage and I still LOVE playing her! So will try to spend a little more time levelling her.
